Continuing our work with L’Oréal Professionnel, we have just completed their 2012 C.O.D.E. directory – an accessible and inspiring magazine aimed at young stylists looking to further their education in the industry.

We are looking forward to the arrival of SSP’s latest offering at London Victoria station, due to open next month.

The menu is a mix of classic takeaway Mexican cuisine, combined with exciting new dishes.

Twelve created the name, identity and overall look and feel which has been applied to the interior space and packaging.

Our ongoing relationship with Sainsbury’s has given us the opportunity to work with them to develop their brand, translating the look and feel into several new stores that are opening later this month.

Next month sees the opening of a new kitchen store in Kuala Lumpur. Twelve have been working very closely with the clients over the last 12 months to develop the identity, the communications as well as the store design. Watch this space for further details and more photographs coming soon!

Our ongoing work with DekaMarkt in Holland sees the launch of a new convenience format, ‘Deka Vers’, in Alkmaar, Holland. Twelve were responsible for creating the initial proposition, brand identity, communications and interior look and feel.

The first Nam-Po noodle and sushi bar opened this month in Euston station with a second unit already on site at Marylebone. Working with SSP, we created all the branding, graphics, packaging and interior design.

London Cocktail Week produced some lovely pop-up experiences in the capital, and we found a small, hidden gin-soaked gem in Covent Garden.  Hendricks Gin dug deep into their brand pockets, and produced the Curious Umbrella Emporium. A take on 1930s glamour meets speak easy, meets vintage cocktail indulgence. Just moments from Seven Dials, some innovative and downright pretty drinks were on offer. Made by some very talented gents in flat caps, lots of samples were tempting passers-by on the street to drop in.

Staffed by experts in period garb, we enjoyed a ‘Tea in the Rain’ and a ‘Sunblush Ginger’: and we learnt a few things about a lovely gin, in a very pretty blue bottle…

So, why do pop-up stores work? Yes, its changeable and consumers can be a fickle bunch, wanting the new and the now, as much as the heritage and provenance. And everyone likes to get a freebie, especially if it’s an iced Hendricks with tonic and cucumber, served by a stylish looking flapper! Really delicious.

For us though, it just felt so personal: a chance to really get under the skin of a brand, enjoy a real product experience and learn something from knowledgeable people who care. Naturally this helps if you’re selling alcohol: it’s retail, but without the pressure. Everyone was encouraged to grab a sample and have a look, and if you want to stay, nab a seat and enjoy a well made cocktail, then great.

This year Twelve were nominated for awards in two different categories in the Retail Interiors Awards – Supermarket design of the year for Stanway and Specialist store design of the year for Fresh Kitchen.
