Maplin Electronics
Project overview
We started working with Maplin several years ago, when they approached us to help them with their in-store communication. During the process, we got the opportunity to look at the overall design of their stores, and this in turn lead to us evolving and updating the identity itself.
We modernised the typography and colour palette, creating a simple coding system that represented either value, brand, service or new product, and this was applied across the store to help customers navigate the range and improve the shopability of the stores. Everything else within the stores, including the floors, ceilings and product display kits were sprayed out in dark grey, which enhanced standout of product and in-store communications. We introduced iconography to communicate range and macro product photography as perimeter wallpaper to add interest around the stores.
